As the Lung Health Network for Healthcare Professionals ramps up, there are immediate ways in which you can contribute to the Lung Health Foundation's understanding of lung health issues that will directly shape the design and delivery of the work. 

We invite you to sign up for any or all of the following.

COPD Education Series

Part 1: Diagnosis and Assessment of COPD
Date: March 2, 2023  I  7:00 PM ET

Presenter: Dr. Christopher Allen, BM, FRCPc, FRCP

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session participants will be able to:
  • Identify risk factors in the development of COPD
  • Recognize the importance of objective measures such as spirometry for diagnosing COPD
  • Recognize the effect COPD symptoms have on patients
  • Identify comorbidities of interest in COPD such as cardiovascular disease
  • Explain the impact of exacerbation on disease trajectory and mortality in COPD

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session participants will be able to:
  • Discuss COPD guidelines in the treatment and management of COPD
  • Discuss ways to approach and differentiate dyspnea from COPD and cardiovascular disease
  • Recognize the importance of eosinophils in COPD
  • Explain the role of triple therapy in COPD with exacerbation and CVD risk
  • Recognize mortality reduction as a treatment strategy for COPD
  • Summarize patient case studies of COPD exacerbation with positive outcomes​

Register for LEAP Lung: Training in palliative care by Pallium Canada

The Lung Health Foundation has partnered with Pallium Canada to offer (at NO cost to registrants) the LEAP Lung training  in  March 2023.

Our Next Cohort:  April 5 & 12, 2023 from 12:00 - 3:00 PM ET​
  • Approximately 15hrs of virtual and independent learning
  • Virtual workshops of 3hrs/each with synchronous learning in small groups
  • Spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis
  • The Lung Health Foundation is offering this training at no cost to the healthcare professionals participating

Focusing our asthma and COPD work based on key barriers AND behaviours 

  • Survey is based on rapid reviews, focus groups with healthcare professionals and people living with asthma and COPD
  • The Lung Health Foundation's Provider Education Program Steering Committee had input into this work 
  • Results will shape the Lung Health Foundation's selection of education and implementation strategies to drive improvements in asthma and COPD​
  • $25 electronic gift certificate will be provided to survey respondents​
